The album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars which came out in 1972 and the Ziggy Stardust World Tour from January 1972 to July 1973, tell the story of Ziggy Stardust, a rockstar messiah from outer space on a mission to save Planet Earth. For more than one year, the British musician David Bowie became the protagonist of his own imaginary scenario in real life.
The title of this publication on Ziggy Stardust, is screen-printed in gold, the colour of the visionary. The inside cover is bright red, the colour of Ziggy Stardust’s hair and boots, which were a strong statement in a world where “people were afraid of colour and their lives were built up in shades if grey”. While the use of the the typeface Sporting Grotesque well expresses his multifaceted and elusive identity.
